Justice Jackson Says She Would Support Enforceable Code of Conduct

Over the last few years, Justice Clarence Thomas has faced the brunt of the attacks against conservative members of the court.

This is largely in part due to gifts he was given by someone he deems to be a close friend, but the Dems don’t see it that way.

As part of the fallout, Chief Justice Roberts published a code of conduct but the court remains a self-policing entity, something that Biden-appointed Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson would like to see changed.

She Likes the Idea

Justice Jackson was asked about a possible code of conduct being implemented for the court by CBS News’ Norah O’Donnell.

Jackson responded, "I follow the rules, whatever they are, with respect to ethical obligations. And it's important in my view to do so. It really boils down to impartiality.

“That's what the rules are about. People are entitled to know if you're accepting gifts as a judge, so that they can evaluate whether or not your opinions are impartial.”

She did avoid commenting on the challenges against Justice Thomas, however.

When asked about the allegations made against Thomas, Jackson responded, "I'm not going to comment on other justices' interpretations of the rules or what they're doing."

When Jackson was asked specifically about endorsing an official and endorsable code of conduct, she replied, "I am considering supporting it as a general matter. I'm not going to get into commenting on particular policy proposals. But from my perspective, I don't have any problem with an enforceable code."

Jackon has already benefited from her new stardom as a Supreme Court justice, having received our tickets to a Beyonce concert valued at $3,700. However, it’s okay because she reported them, so there is nothing to see here.

She was also gifted artwork for her chambers that was valued at $12,500, as well as having received an advance of nearly $1 million for her upcoming memoir.

You want to clean up the court? Simply outlaw gifts and trips, period. Pay them whatever you want to ensure they will not be corrupted, but shut the gift train down, reported or not.

Thomas is getting ripped for accepting gifts from a friend he has known for decades and who has not had a case come before the Supreme Court.

Yet, the late Justice Ginsburg received a very expensive overseas trip from a man who benefitted from a court decision, and nobody said a word just because it was on her reporting list.

Believe me, nobody on that court is clean on this front, this is just yet another way for the media and Democrats to attack a conservative minority.
