Bob Menendez Resigns After Convictions

The Democrats have one less seat in the Senate today, at least for the time being.

Senator Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) has resigned his seat.

This after Menendez was found guilty on 16 counts tied to a bribery scheme to benefit Qatar and Egypt.

He’s a Traitor

Menendez was given stacks of gifts, including a Mercedes for his wife, gold bars, and cash for his favors.

His buddies representing Egypt and Qatar wanted Menendez to push legislation that would benefit these foreign governments over the interests of the United States.

Menendez, of course, paints himself as a true patriot, saying he has always been loyal to the United States.

He has tried everything to wriggle out of these charges, including saying that the charges against him were race-oriented because of his Cuban heritage.

To which I cannot help but ask why Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) was not targeted as well.

When FBI agents raided his home, they found more than $480,000 in cash, gold bars worth more than $100,000, as well as gifts.

With his sentencing trial quickly approaching, Menendez tendered his resignation from the Senate, saying, "I do not want the Senate to be involved in a lengthy process that will detract from its important work.”

In reality, there are rumors that Menendez has been in talks with Biden about getting a pardon for his resignation and dropping out of the Senate race.

Menendez had registered as an independent for the election, and Dems feared he would take enough votes away from the Democrat in the race to hand the seat to Republicans, which would be a complete disaster for the party.

So, don’t be surprised if, on the way out the door, Joe Biden sneaks a pardon in there for Menendez, proving once again that power plays second fiddle to nothing else in the Democrat Party.
