Walz 1995 DUI Could Come Back to Haunt Walz

In 1995, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz was arrested and charged with drunk and reckless driving charges.

As he has done in other instances, it would appear that Walz may have stretched the truth about the arrest on a campaign website in 2006.

His campaign, at the time, claimed that Walz was not drinking, and one other little tidbit that I doubt will fly with the American people.

During Walz's 2006 campaign, his office claimed the reason he failed the field sobriety test was due to a hearing loss from his time serving in the National Guard.

It also claimed that Walz was able to drive himself home later that night after he was processed.

Walz’s team told a local news outlet at the time, “The DUI charge was dropped for a Reason: it wasn’t true.

“The trooper had him drive to the station and then leave on his own after being at the station. Tim feels bad about speeding and has paid the ticket and apologized to his family at the time it happened.”

Cody Thomas, a spokesman for the Nebraska State Patrol, responded, “Under NSP procedure, a person suspected of impaired driving is not allowed to continue driving.

“In this case, the suspect was transported by the trooper and was lodged in Dawes County Jail.”

Walz was clocked doing 96 mph in a 55 mph zone.

At the time, the legal limit was 0.10% and Walz tested at 0.128%, clearly over the limit, and he clearly had alcohol in his system, contrary to what his campaign said at the time.

Later in life, Walz referred to this moment as changing his life and stated he no longer drinks, preferring a Diet Mountain Dew instead.

Walz was fined $200, and his license was suspended for 90 days, so this is yet another lie that Walz will have to deal with during the debate against Vance.

In and of itself, it is not a big deal, but we have a disturbing pattern of Walz making up life events in a way that would benefit him politically, so he is proving to be just another narcissistic liar.
