Newsom Presses Local Leaders to Enforce Homeless Encampment Order

It sure is funny how, for the last four years, Governor Gavin Newsom sat on his hands and allowed homelessness to run rampant through his state.

Business owners literally closed up their shops because the problem was so bad.

It is an election year, and suddenly Newsom was interested in following a Supreme Court ruling that outlawed homeless camps, so now he is trying to light a fire under local leadership to break these camps and clean up the state.

Clean It Up

Forgive me if I am skeptical, but it is rather convenient that Newsom’s cleanup order happened to fall during an election year.

Could it also be a coincidence that the new Democrat nominee, dare I say the illegal nominee, hails from California?

Newsom is now so suddenly energized to clean up the state that after a zoo dedication, he put on his jeans and boots and helped workers clean up the camps himself.

Newsom, while helping pick up garbage at the camps, stated, “People are done. If we don’t deal with this, we don’t deserve to be in office.”

Well, where was that attitude for most of the last four years while the homeless were ruining businesses and the tourism industry?

Some local officials in the state have pushed back, saying his order is cruel to the homeless, to which he responded, “We need partners, not sparring partners.

“If we can’t move Los Angeles County, we’re not going to move the state.”

The problem, however, is that these camps are likely to pop right back up because the state does not have enough housing or shelters to place all the homeless that were just uprooted.

Newsom is approaching this like Biden approached EVs, he is ripping off the bandage without any real way to address the wound.

Don’t get me wrong, I support the effort to disband the camps, but that does nothing to address the heart of the issue.
