Republican House Member Says FBI Confiscated His Cell Phone

It would appear that we have a Republican House member who is on the radar of the FBI.

Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) announced this week that the FBI had confiscated his mobile phone.

Ogles is currently under investigation for issues regarding campaign finance reporting.

In Comes the FBI

According to Ogles, the FBI took his phone last week, and he also noted that he is cooperating with the FBI as well as having already cooperated with the Federal Election Commission.

For months now, Ogles' finances have been in the headlines, and he believes this is related to some “mistakes in our initial filings.”

Now, if these were honest mistakes, Ogles has nothing to fear at all.

He will probably get hit with some type of small fine and a warning. If, however, they find it was on purpose, well, that is another ballgame altogether.

For instance, Ogles had reported a 2022 campaign loan of $320,000, but that has since been removed.

Ogles stated, “I am confident all involved will conclude that the reporting discrepancies were based on honest mistakes, and nothing more.”

The complaint against Ogles was filed by Campaign Legal Center, a nonprofit organization.

I have no idea if Ogles is in the right or wrong here, but I cannot help but wonder why people like Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) are never investigated.

This guy flies around the world, first class, all the time, tapping his campaign funds.

And if what he is doing is legal, then the rules need to be changed fairly quickly to stop these loopholes and abuse of donor cash.

Every time Swalwell wants a first-class vacation, he just holds a donor meeting at that site so he can write it off as a campaign event.

But I have to question why any member of Congress needs to travel to Italy to raise campaign funds.
