Actor Akili McDowell Arrested on Murder Charges

Yet another Hollywood star has fallen from grace.

Akili McDowell, who got his big break in “Billions,” has been arrested on murder and theft charges.

McDowell was charged on August 1, according to reports.

Arrested and Disgraced

McDowell, 21, was reportedly involved in an incident on July 20 at a local apartment complex near Wallisville and Uvalde in East Harris County, Texas.

And yes, that would be the same Uvalde where the mass shooting took place.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez stated that deputies responded to a call and found a man who appeared to be in his 20s who had suffered gunshot wounds.

That man was later pronounced dead at the scene.

An update was issued in the incident, claiming “homicide Investigators charged Akili McDowell (21) with murder in the shooting death of Cesar Peralta (20).

“McDowell was recently taken into custody and booked into the Harris County Jail.”

Police have not stated how they narrowed down the suspect field to McDowell.

McDowell first popped up in the acting world in 2013 in “It’s Not About Me.”

He floundered around a bit, as most budding actors do, landing some small parts, then got a rather significant break by landing a recurring role in “Billions” in 2020.

He played Savion Williams, the young boy who caught Bobby Axelrod's attention when he was working on a project to rebuild the community where he grew up.

It was during this time that he also landed a starring role in “David Makes Man,” where he appeared as the main character, David, for over 20 episodes.

His last posted credit was earlier this year in “The Waterboyz,” where he played Drew.

McDowell does have two shorts in post-production, but I imagine they would be his last credits if he is convicted in this case.
