Abbreviated version of Trump gunman's autopsy released

Thomas Crooks was killed on July 13, when he attempted to kill Donald J. Trump during a campaign stop in Butler, Pennsylvania.

It took a few weeks, but Crooks' autopsy report has been released, and now we know his official cause of death:

On July 13, 2024, Thomas Crooks died at 6:25 p.m. after taking a single gunshot wound to the head.

The official cause of death is listed as "homicide."

Crooks was killed by a Secret Service countersniper team after he started firing at Donald Trump from about 150 yards away from on top of a roof.

Local Pennsylvania authorities only released a one-page version of the autopsy and have already denied media requests for a full copy.

As a result of only one page of the autopsy being public, it is unknown what kinds of tests for medications or chemicals in Crooks' system may have been conducted.

Those tests should be standard in most autopsies, but we simply can't be sure it was done in this case because of the brevity of the report.

Throughout its investigation of the attempted assassination, Congress has been extremely critical of the slow pace that the Secret Service is trickling out information relating to the event.

Originally, the Secret Service claimed it wouldn't have any reports, facts, or investigations ready until at least 60 days after the event, which America found unacceptable.

Sixty days would have represented HALF of the remaining time between the shooting and the 2024 election, so that's far too long for Kamala Harris and Donald Trump to be campaigning without increasing the standard of their security.

Do you think the federal government is doing enough in the wake of Trump's assassination attempt?

Obviously, we don't want any American president or presidential candidate to ever go through an assassination attempt like this again, but will the U.S. Secret Service get its act together quickly enough to keep the candidates safe?
