Jack Smith Disqualification Hearing Concludes

The hearing before Judge Aileen Cannon on the Trump classified documents motion regarding Special Counsel Jack Smith has finally wrapped up.

The hearing was contentious, to say the least.

At one point, prosecutors were clearly frustrated, saying that Trump’s attorneys had “hijacked” the hearing with outrageous allegations against Smith.

The hearings lasted for three days, and while I doubt the search warrant or the appointment of Smith will be nullified, it did not go well for Smith’s prosecuting team.

The tension started right out of the gate, with one of Smith’s prosecutors getting out of line with Judge Cannon.

It was to the point that Cannon had to check the attorney and all but toss him out of the courtroom before he calmed down, eventually apologizing to Cannon.

On the final day of the hearing, the tension rose again, as prosecutors whined to Cannon that Trump’s team was “hijacking” the case, and Cannon snapped back, "There is no hijacking going on -- it's about to end.”

Prosecutor David Harbach sounded like a child, responding, "It's not fair.”

As much as the prosecutors struggled, it does appear that the judge is skeptical, at best, of the case presented to have the evidence from the search of Mar-a-Lago tossed due to the broad nature of the search warrant.

For instance, defense attorney Emil Bove argued, "This was an enormous piece of property. We are not talking about the search of a residential piece of property in the suburbs. It's not an apartment in the city.”

Cannon shot back, "What's your point? It's a large property.

“You would agree paperwork is a sort of thing that can be located anywhere."

As I have stated before, however, these motions are not necessarily about Trump winning them.

The main goal of his legal team right now is to delay the trial as long as possible to ensure it does not happen before the election.

So far, they have been masterful at doing just that.
