Appeals Court Suspends Case Against Trump Co-defendant

Fulton County DA Fani Willis has not had the best run of luck since indicting Trump.

She has been accused of misuse of funds, having an affair, and now another blow against her.

It was just reported that Misty Hampton’s case has been suspended.

Tough Break

Hampton is one of the 19 co-defendants named in the case.

She had previously made a motion to have her case delayed, which was denied by Judge McAfee.

However, upon appeal, McAfee’s decision was overturned and Hampton’s case has been put on hold pending the outcome of said appeals.

Willis has been struggling to have these cases move forward ever since the news broke that she had been having an affair with Nathan Wade, one of the prosecutors on the case.

Once the affair news was revealed, Trump and his co-defendants made a motion to have her removed from the case due to a conflict of interest.

McAfee ultimately ordered that Willis could remain on the case as long as Wade was removed.

However, motions were then made to appeal McAfee’s decision, all of which are now pending in the appellate courts.

The appellate court released its decision on Wednesday, stating, "Based upon Misty Hampton's request that this Court stay her case pending this Court's resolution of the outcome of the appeal in [The State of Georgia v. Donald J. Trump, et al], this Court hereby stays all underlying proceedings against her in the Superior Court of Fulton County pending the outcome of the appeal.”

Currently, a court date is set for October 4 to consider Willis’ removal, which means there is simply no way Trump’s case sees the inside of a courtroom before the election.
