Alleged Lookout in ‘Whitey’ Bulger Murder Pleads Guilty
It would appear that our justice system believes some murders are not as bad as others.
That is the only thing I can think of to justify no additional time being given to the alleged lookout in the prison murder of notorious Boston gangster James “Whitey” Bulger.
Even after pleading guilty, no additional time was added to the lookout’s sentence.
No Worries
Sean McKinnon, already in prison, was the alleged lookout in the brutal murder of “Whitey” Bulger while in prison.
Bulger, a notorious Boston criminal mastermind, was put on trial in June 2013 on 32 counts of racketeering and firearms possession and for having been complicit in 19 murders.
In August of that year, the jury found Bulger guilty on 31 of the racketeering and firearms charges as well as 11 of the murders.
Needless to say, Bulger was a marked man when he entered the prison system, but he somehow managed to last about five years before his past caught up with him.
On October 29, 2018, Bulger, who was in a wheelchair at this point, was brutally beaten and stabbed by several inmates, beaten with a sock that had a padlock in it and shiv.
Authorities stated that he was “unrecognizable,” with his eyes nearly gouged out and his tongue cut off, he had literally been beaten to a pulp.
Massachusetts-based mafia hitman Fotios "Freddy" Geas was cited as the primary suspect in the murder.
This brings us to the case of Sean McKinnon, the alleged lookout while the attack against Bulger took place.
McKinnon pleaded guilty to having lied to federal agents during the investigation, getting credit for time already served as part of the plea deal.
McKinnon was serving a 22-month sentence on gun charges at the time of the indictment and has already been released, so he will remain free as part of the plea deal.
The two men accused of beating Bulger, Geas and Paul J. DeCologero, have also taken plea deals, with hearings scheduled on Sept. 6 and Aug. 1, respectively.
