Congratulations, Joe Biden, you are the new record holder.
More than two million migrant encounters have taken place at our border.
That is, by far, a new record.
A record, by the way, that was set last year even though Biden only had nine months of the fiscal year.
Great Job!
Just as I predicted we would see, encounters are starting to increase now that the dog days of summer are behind us.
There was a 1.7 percent increase in migrant encounters from July to August, again eclipsing the 200,000 mark.
For reference, when Trump was in office and we saw a surge in migration, we had about 400,000 encounters for the entire year.
Sadly, that record is not yet finished being set, as we still have 10 days before the fiscal year closes out.
Something of note is that we are seeing more immigrants from further away.
There is a 175 percent spike in illegal immigrants from Venezuela, Cuba or Nicaragua.
CBP Commissioner Chris Magnus stated, "Failing communist regimes in Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Cuba are driving a new wave of migration across the Western Hemisphere, including the recent increase in encounters at the southwest U.S. border."
We are also seeing reports that these communist leaders are opening their prisons and sending the worst of the worst to the United States…
The story is starting to get national coverage now that Republican governors are sending migrants to Democrat sanctuary cities.
Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) stated, "Maybe, just maybe, now that this crisis has caught the attention of the mayors of Washington, DC, New York, and Chicago, maybe the Administration will pay attention to those mayors when they've ignored this problem so far."
Do not expect fair coverage, however, as the media is buying into the idea that Republicans are now complicit in human trafficking and kidnapping.
Governor Ron DeSantis touched on this, stating, "Millions of people since Biden's been president, illegally coming across the southern border. Did they freak out about that? No.
"You've had migrants die in the Rio Grande — you had 50 die in Texas in a trailer because they were being neglected. Was there a freak-out about that? No, there wasn't."
According to New York City Mayor Eric Adams, Democrats are also looking legal options to stop the busing of migrants to blue cities.
He stated," We're looking at that.
"We believe there's some options we have, because when you involuntarily place someone on a bus, we believe that actually skates the law.
"And so our legal team is looking at this."
Governor Abbott's office responded, "Migrants on Texas' buses willingly chose to go to New York, having signed a voluntary consent waiver available in multiple languages upon boarding that they agreed on the destination.
"Each bus is stocked with food and water and makes stops along the trip to refuel and switch drivers.
"Migrants are allowed to purchase any needed provisions or disembark at any of these stops, as they have been processed and released by the federal government."
