Senate Close to Passing TikTok Ban Bill

It may now be only a matter of time before TikTok is banned in this country.

This week, the Senate voted 80-19 to limit debate on the legislation.

That is a sign that most of them have already made up their minds and are ready to pass it through, at least that is what the “experts” are predicting.

Let It Fly

This is a really interesting issue because I have seen opinions on both sides that are all over the place.

Adding to the complexity of the issue is the Biden administration now embracing TikTok to reach younger voters.

To that point, Biden will have to sign this bill to make it law, and that is not a given with how Biden is struggling among younger voters right now.

There are literally tens of thousands of new, young millionaires thanks to becoming social media influencers on TikTok, income that immediately ceases if a ban is put in place.

There is an amendment that has been added to the bill to extend the time that TikTok has to sell to a U.S. buyer, which has gotten more senators on board with the ban.

Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) stressed the importance of national security, stating, “Many Americans, particularly young Americans, are rightfully skeptical. At the end of the day, they’ve not seen what Congress has seen.

“They’ve not been in the classified briefings that Congress has been in.

“What they have seen, beyond even this bill, is Congress’s failure to enact meaningful consumer protections and may cynically view this as a diversion.

“To those young Americans, I want to say, we hear your concern.”

Rest assured, if this bill passes and is sitting on Joe Biden’s desk for his signature, significant legal challenges will be made to block it from becoming law.

So, for those of you who are making money on TikTok, there is still time before that clock expires, but just in case, you may want to start building up your X and Instagram fan bases.
