POLL: RFK Could Hurt Trump More Than Biden
The nature of an election is that it can get turned on its ear in a heartbeat.
Virtually since RFK Jr. announced that he was running as an independent, polling has shown that his candidacy hurts Joe Biden more.
Well, a new poll that just hit has shown a surprisingly different result.
Who Does It Hurt?
In an election in which voters overwhelmingly polled that they wanted new choices, they somehow managed to give Joe Biden (81) and Donald Trump (77) the nominations for their respective parties.
Both sides had multiple alternatives, especially on the right, but Trump and Biden crushed everyone.
Due to how the Democrat Party was protecting Joe Biden, RFK Jr. decided to go the independent route, and he has made headway.
He has been consistently polling around 15%, which is a huge chunk of votes for a third-party candidate.
In most 3-way polling as well as 5-way polling, the third-party candidates who will be in this race have hurt Joe Biden, usually sending a few points to Trump.
However, a new NBC News poll is either an outlier or the beginning of a troublesome trend for Donald Trump.
The poll now has Biden atop all candidates with 39%, followed by Trump at 37%, Kennedy at 13%, then Jill Stein and Corne West at 3% and 2% respectively.
This is a big departure from Trump and Biden's head-to-head matchup, which saw Trump beat Biden 46% to 44%.
The poll found that 15% of Trump voters moved to Kennedy, while only 7% of Biden supporters did the same.
Kennedy somehow received higher marks from Republicans than Democrats, with a 15% and 53% negative approval rating, respectively.
One would think that with Kennedy adding a far-left extremist as his VP, GOP voters would have run away, but that is not the case at all.
Based on what I have seen, I am going to stick with this poll being an outlier for now, as, other than this one poll, I have not seen anything that shows Kennedy being more of a threat to Trump.
Let’s just hope that this is one of those cases where I am right rather than eating a plate of crow because if this poll is a sign of things to come, paired with Trump’s legal problems, it could be a very difficult election night for the GOP.
