Michael Avenatti Says Trump Attorneys Contacted Him
Remember when attorney Michael Avenatti was the toast of the town?
When he first popped onto the scene as the attorney for adult film star Stormy Daniels, the media could not get enough of him and Trump could not shake him.
Today, however, those tables have turned.
Hey Donnie!
According to Avenatti, who is now in jail, Donald Trump’s attorneys have contacted him about testifying in his Alvin Bragg hush-money case.
Avenatti, who was jailed for stealing from clients and obstruction, has apparently had a change of heart about Donald Trump.
Avenatti stated, “I’d be more than happy to testify. I don’t know that I will be called to testify, but I have been in touch with Trump’s defense for the better part of a year.”
He did not elaborate on how he would be helping Trump, if he would be helping Trump, but he did shred Bragg for choosing now to prosecute the case. Avenatti added, “There’s no question [the trial] is politically motivated because they’re concerned that he may be reelected.
“If the defendant was anyone other than Donald Trump, this case would not have been brought at this time, and for the government to attempt to bring this case and convict him in an effort to prevent tens of millions of people from voting for him, I think it’s just flat out wrong, and atrocious.”
Trump’s team clearly is looking for some dirt on Stormy Daniels that they can use against her in this trial to lessen the blow of Bragg’s charges, but the question then becomes how much weight Avenatti’s testimony will have.
The man is clearly a grifter, so I am still kind of on the fence regarding whether this is a good idea or not for the Trump camp.
However, he may be able to shed some light on the politicization of the charges and whether there was any coordination between his office and prosecutors at the time.
