Lee Zeldin: New York in Play for Trump

Former Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-N.Y.) is making some big claims on behalf of Donald Trump.

According to Zeldin, Donald Trump can be the first Republican to pull off winning New York since Ronald Reagan.

Zeldin believes that Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg may have handed Trump the state on a silver platter with his very weak hush-money case.

NY in Play

When Zeldin ran his gubernatorial campaign, the race was far closer than anyone had ever expected.

Zeldin is likening his campaign to that of Trump’s, explaining, “So when I ran in 2022, what I was saying was if I get less than 30% in New York City, I can’t win; if I get more than 35% in New York City, it becomes difficult to lose.”

He added, “President Trump can get inside of all these different communities over the course of the next several weeks and get his support up.

“The Asian community, the Hispanic community, the black community, and others are only moving towards him.”

Donald Trump will be in New York City for most of the next six to eight weeks due to the hush-money trial.

Rather than flying all over the country at night, Trump stated that he plans on campaigning locally to make a hard move to get New York in the upcoming presidential election.

Trump is already making inroads among all minority voters, so there could be something to this, although I still believe it is a far-reach to say that Trump can win the state right now.

Trump, the master at portraying himself as the conduit for government overreach, stated, “I think that’s why the black people are so much on my side now.

“Because they see what’s happening to me happens to them.”

That is a pretty dangerous statement for Trump to make, considering he also says he supports law enforcement because it is not a stretch for someone to push that statement by Trump as confirming that black people are oppressed in this country, which would feed the Democrat narrative as well as never-Trumpers in the GOP that continue claim Trump is a fraud and a Democrat at heart.

There is another problem for Biden that could also help Trump win New York, and that is Kennedy being on the ballot.

A lot of liberals prefer Kennedy over Biden, so if he takes a nice chunk of that vote away from Biden, Trump just may have a fighter’s chance of taking that state for the first time in four decades.
