Judge Merchan Shocking Ruling in Trump Hush-money Case

If there was ever a case to be made that the New York justice system is corrupt, Judge Merchan just made it.

Merchan just ruled that if Trump testifies in his case, Bragg can introduce buckets of evidence from other cases.

Generally speaking, this is unheard of unless the defense specifically mentions instances.

Outrageous Ruling

In any case, regardless of the crime, the case is about the evidence related to that specific case.

As a prosecuting attorney, you are generally not permitted to bring up evidence in other cases, especially if those cases are still working their way through the appeals process or have not yet been tried.

Merchan, however, just gave Alvin Bragg carte blanche to use evidence in other cases to discredit Donald Trump if he testifies in his own defense in the hush-money trial.

Bragg had filed a motion last week asking to use Donald Trump’s alleged "prior misconduct and criminal acts" to discredit him after he testifies in the criminal trial.

Not only that, but Merchan also stated that Bragg can use Judge Engoron’s ruling from the New York civil fraud trial that is currently under appeal by Donald Trump.

Merchan will allow Bragg to introduce the gag order imposed by Engoron and the gag order violations committed by Trump, which led to several fines and the threat of jail time.

Additionally, Bragg will be permitted to use details of the E. Jean Carroll defamation suit, another case that is currently under appeal.

Legal experts have been bouncing off the walls over this ruling, not to mention the criticism that has been levied at Bragg and his office for literally creating a case out of thin air to prosecute Trump.

The statute of limitations had run out, so Bragg crafted felony counts by stacking ledger entries for the hush-money payments made against Trump.

As Trump’s attorneys have stated, however, this appears to be less about winning the case than it is about draining Trump’s assets and keeping him off the campaign trail.

Unfortunately for Trump, the judge, and jury, in this case, are likely to be stacked against Trump, so his best chance to win this case will be on appeal, which I still believe he will do.
