Jill Biden makes multiple transatlantic flights within days, courts controversy

Democrats -- particularly those who move in elite circles -- are notorious for their “rules for thee, not for me” approach to climate change, with frequent air travel among the most common offenses in this realm.

Last week, first lady Jill Biden was caught taking things to a whole new level, criss-crossing the Atlantic Ocean multiple times within a span of days so that she could attend official events in France as well as stepson Hunter Biden's federal gun trial in Delaware, as The Hill reports.

Frequent flier

On Thursday, Mrs. Biden joined her husband in France for 80th anniversary commemorations of the D-Day landings following the first phase of her multi-day travels.

By Friday, the first lady had already made the lengthy return flight stateside, arriving in time to appear at the federal courthouse in Delaware where Hunter is standing trial on multiple felony charges.

Incredibly, Jill Biden was poised to head back to Europe for a state visit with French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife on Saturday, without any apparent regard for the staggering emissions resulting from her journeys.

Staggering expense involved

As Fox News noted, the specialized aircraft known as Air Force Two, used to transport first ladies on their travels, is known to cost tens of thousands of dollars per hour to operate, making Mrs. Biden's unusual schedule over the past several days particularly expensive for the American taxpayer.

According to the U.S. Mirror, the round trip from France to Delaware, or vice versa, totals 7.200 miles, a noteworthy distance, even when made just once.

They double standard involved in this type of lavish air travel was not lost on Daniel Turner, founder and executive director of advocacy group Power the Future, who said, “As Joe Biden threatens to declare a climate emergency complete with COVID-style lockdowns and punitive measures, he's using hundreds of thousands of gallons of jet fuel at the taxpayer expense to fly his wife back-and-forth across the Atlantic.”

Turner went on, “The Biden climate scheme is pretty simple: working families are supposed to shut up and pay up while he and all the other hypocrites live it up.”

Sending a message

Though Jill Biden's presence in Hunter's Delaware courtroom was portrayed by some as simply an act of concern by a loving mother, one prominent Fox News commentator took a different view entirely, as Law & Crime reports.

Jeanine Pirro attributed the first lady's attendance to something rather more sinister, suggesting that she was sending a message to the jurors who will decide Hunter's fate.

Noting that the president's wife was present for jury selection, Pirro opined that the first lady was, in essence, communicating, “We're the Bidens. This is Delaware...We know who you are, we're in the courtroom, and we're watching you.”
