Feds Want New Gag Order Against Trump After Producing Slew of Trump Statements
Special Prosecutor Jack Smith is not letting up on his quest to keep Donald Trump’s mouth shut.
He did not succeed in time for the debate, but Trump steered clear of it anyway.
In his latest attempt, Smith presented a series of statements made by Trump that his office claims put federal agents at risk.
Dangerous Man
Smith had been trying to get Judge Cannon to issue an expanded gag order against Trump to prevent him from saying anything derogatory about the FBI.
During the initial hearing, Judge Cannon asked prosecutors for specific examples, and they could not produce them.
This led to a very contentious exchange between Cannon and one of the prosecuting attorneys to the point that Cannon was ready to shut him down.
He eventually apologized, but that was a precursor to how the hearings would proceed over the next few days.
Trump started to make claims against the FBI after the raid at Mar-a-Lago, but he amped up the attacks after the language of the warrant was released.
In a fundraising email, Trump wrote, “BREAKING FROM TRUMP: BIDEN’S DOJ WAS AUTHORIZED TO SHOOT ME!.”
He also posted on Truth Social, “Crooked Joe Biden’s Department of Injustice authorized the use of “deadly force” in their Illegal, UnConstitutional, and Un-American RAID of Mar-a-Lago, and that would include against our Great Secret Service, who they thought might be ‘in the line of fire.'”
Prosecutors then claimed this led to threats of violence against agents on at least five different occasions.
Trump's political adviser, Steven Cheung, responded to Smith’s request, stating, “The closer we get to Election Day, the more Smith’s team will leak, obfuscate, and lie about President Trump in a feeble attempt to fool the American People. The Radical Leftists will fail.
“The entire documents case was a political sham from the very beginning and it should be thrown out entirely.”
Cannon asked for examples, and now she has them, so let’s see if she deems them to be a legitimate threat or if she brushed Smith’s concerns aside.
