Biggs Adds Amendment to Block Funding for Mayorkas’ Salary

All of the headlines in right-leaning publications today are making a huge deal about an amendment added to legislation to fund the Department of Homeland Security by Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ).

They are all acting as though this will be the end of Mayorkas.

Sadly, it will not.

It’s Insulting

Prior to Biggs’ amendment being voted on by the House, he posted on X.

He stated, "Taxpayers should not be paying an unelected bureaucrat who was impeached by the House.

“That's why I sponsored an amendment to this year's Homeland Security Appropriations Act to prohibit funding to be used for the salary of DHS Secretary Mayorkas.”

I would counter that with why should taxpayers have to pay for legislation that is nothing more than a campaign ploy because that is what this is.

This is not a big win for the House, for Republicans, or conservatives.

In order for this to actually happen, it would have to pass through the Senate and be signed by Joe Biden, and that is not going to happen, and everyone reading this knows it.

To those who say I sometimes approve of statement legislation, I would note that the very same statement was made when the House tried to impeach Mayorkas, and Schumer had the charges dismissed within minutes.

This allows Biggs to post on his campaign website that he fought back against Mayorkas, but he will not mention that he knew when he added this amendment that it would never actually defund Mayorkas.

And what about Speaker Johnson (R-LA) for allowing this to be floored? It is stunts like this that explain why I believe the GOP will probably lose the House to Democrats.

Republicans, since they have taken control of the House, have not passed any serious legislation that will actually be turned into law to benefit the conservative movement in this country.

They have literally done nothing… and if we win the Senate and the White House, it will be this class of Republicans that is responsible for preventing the GOP from reversing the damaging policies of the Biden administration.

I truly hope I am wrong about them losing the House because it would be devastating to have done all this fighting to win back the White House and Senate only to have complete control of the government blocked because of the immature children currently working in the House on behalf of We the People.
